The best time to visit is from April to September, and these few months are considered the peak season for most of the tourists as well. The things you should bring
You can prepare a towel, swimming attire and other personal toiletries for your own. If you don’t want to get sunburn and tanned, you definitely should bring enough sunscreen and some umbrella. An overnight stay at Mantanani Island is a must, and I strongly recommend you to stay at Mantanani Resort. The Mantanani Resort has offered us a reasonable price to stay overnight. My friends and I will stay here for four nights. There are many activities at night.
The tour guide brings us to see Bioluminescent algae and we had a chance to catch the crab! And remember to bring a torchlight or to use the mobile phone torchlight because the island at night is dark. On the other night, we had a long walk around the island, and you can enjoy the beauty of nature at night. It was a great memory when we saw the sky full of stars and moon, and listen to the “music” the sound from the sea, insects and wind.

1. Snorkeling area – Magic Rock
One of the things to do in kk is to engage in a snorkeling activity! Mantanani Islands are an excellent location for diving and snorkeling. Usually, the Mantanani Island package will include snorkeling trips and they will provide you with the life jacket and snorkeling mask. We explored the underwater world with an abundance of coral reefs. The water is clear, and you able to see the fish swimming just around you on this best place to visit in Kota Kinabalu.
2. River Cruise
The green forest on Mantanani island was amazing as we saw the proboscis monkeys, long-tailed macaques, buffalos, and rare silvered leaf monkey. You have to beware and don’t give food to wild animals and don’t bring any valuable belongings.
3. Bird Watching Area
We spotted several unique Mantanani Scops owl and other water birds in this best island in Kota Kinabalu. The Pied Imperial, Grey Imperial and Nicobar Pigeons, and the Philippine Megapode. If you booked the Mantanani Island Package, it would be more convenient for you.

We stayed at Mantanani Resort, and we enjoyed the Sunset views and sunset fishing during the first two days. We watched a spectacular sunset on this beautiful island and the most interesting was, we had a look for a marriage proposal around the Mantanani resort with this romantic environment!
